D-TPSM2A Format-A Dual Microphone Preamplifier (all models) The Format-A Dual Microphone Preamplifier shall be an RDL D-TPSM2A. The unit shall provide two user-accessible microphone inputs, phantom power and preamplification to convert the microphone sources to RDL Format-A. Each input shall be assignable by the installer to any of the three Format-A pairs. The unit shall be equipped to automatically set the gain applied to each input according to the type of microphone connected or to apply a fixed gain set by the installer. The unit shall provide an output from each preamplifier compatible with RDL Format-A. The unit shall provide two Format-A jacks to permit daisy-chaining, and the unit shall receive operating power through the jacks. Two audio inputs shall be provided on metal XLR connectors. Each input jack shall provide P48 (48 Vdc) phantom voltage at all times the unit is powered. Each input shall be equipped with a rear-panel switch to set the gain to 40 dB, 60 dB or to automatic. In the automatic position, the unit shall set the gain to 60 dB for dynamic microphones or 40 dB for condenser microphones. The microphone input impedance shall exceed 1 kOhms. Each input shall provide audio frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (± 0.5 dB) with total harmonic distortion of less than 0.05%. Noise below normal operating level shall exceed 70 dB for a gain of 60 dB and shall exceed 85 dB for a gain of 40 dB. Inputs shall provide a minimum of 18 dB headroom before hard clipping, and shall provide an additional 4 dB of headroom with soft clipping when the gain is operating at 40 dB. Crosstalk between any pair and at any gain shall exceed -70 dB from 20 Hz to 15 kHz. Common mode rejection shall exceed 80 dB from 20 Hz to 5 kHz. The output from each preamplifier shall be assignable by the installer to a single Format-A output pair, A, B, or C. the output pair selector shall be accessible through the rear chassis of the unit. The front face of the unit shall provide graphical labels protected beneath a polycarbonate protective surface for white and black models or shall be applied to a brushed stainless steel plate for the stainless steel model. The unit shall measure 5.8" (15 cm) W; 1.7" (4.3 cm) H; 5.2" (13.2 cm) D and be compatible with RDL RACK-UP mounting accessories. The unit’s electrical chassis shall be fully constructed of metal, comprised of stainless steel and steel members. The unit shall be equipped to operate from 24 Vdc ground-referenced power provided through either rear-panel Format-A jack, with a maximum current not exceeding 80 mA plus connected phantom loads. The unit shall be engineered, assembled and tested in the U.S.A. and be specified for continuous duty in professional installed systems. The unit shall be specified for operation in an ambient temperature between 0 and 40 degrees C. The unit shall comply with relevant EMC requirements and shall bear the CE marking. The unit shall be an RDL D-TPSM2A.
